About the Author

ericS: Eric Schlosser, an award-winning investigative journalist, spent his childhood both in Los Angeles and New York City. He studied U.S. History at Princeton and earned his graduate degree from Oxford in British Imperial History. Mr. Schlosser started his journalistic career at The Atlantic Monthly.

In 1998, Mr. Schlosser started to investigate the fast food industry in what was supposed to be a two-part article for Rolling Stone. Instead, his alarming investigations into the industry were so well-received by the public, that the two-part magazine article turned into the progressive and pioneering book of Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal (2001). For over two years, Fast Food Nation stayed on the New York Times bestseller list as well as reaching bestseller status in many foreign countries. It continues to be used on high school and college campusesacross the United States as an additional teaching tool in classrooms.

Mr. Schlosser resides in California with his wife, Shauna Redford, (daughter of Robert Redford) and their two children. He is currently working on his next book about the American prison population and system. Mr. Schlosser’s forthcoming expose on the chaos of the U.S. prison system is highly anticipated and has many fans waiting for its publication in the spring of 2008.
